Experience the impossible Museum of Illusions® New York

Visited the Museum of Illusions in NYC and it’s absolutely worth it. The exhibits are well thought out, interactive, and do a good job of pulling you in rather than just being something you walk past. It’s the kind of place where you actually do things — not just look. You end up talking, laughing, double-checking your eyes, and trying to figure out how the visuals are messing with your sense of space. Good mix of fun and clever.

The layout flows well, it doesn’t feel cramped, and there’s enough variety to keep adults just as engaged as kids. Staff keeps things smooth — Terrell in particular was solid, helped make sure we understood a couple of the setups and pointed out angles we would’ve missed, without hovering.

Overall: clean, organized, interactive, and actually memorable. Easy recommendation.

This two floor experience with my 11 year old was a blast. With the help of Seymour (this isn’t his name, but what he’s known by) we were able to capture AMAZING photos. Seymour greeted us with a smile and welcoming gesture as soon as we came in. This truly set the mood for the day. Thank You!

As for the museum…we loved it. It’s not big I full floor and a half upstairs, but there’s a good hour maybe hour 1/2 of things to do which are interesting and if your lucky enough to go when Seymour is there he’ll help you capture Amazing photos. We will definitely be back as my son want to do again with his sister & friends!

We made some truly great photo memories at the Illusion Museum. My teenager picked this outing and was genuinely interested the whole way through, which made it even more enjoyable. We took the time to read, explore, and really engage with each illusion — and that’s the key. If you rush through or skip the explanations, it probably won’t feel worth the price.

That said, if you have young kids or aren’t into reading and interacting with each display, you might leave underwhelmed. It’s not a passive experience — you get out what you put in.
We got assistance from staff on three illusions that we couldn’t figure out or wanted the best angles for, and their help really made a difference. We came away with some awesome photos and memories we genuinely love.

What wasn’t worth it? The digital audio add-on. The QR codes weren’t up to date, and we barely used it. Definitely skip that.

A couple of suggestions for the museum:
– a couple signs were worn and hard to read — updates would go a long way.
– It would be helpful if they posted some of the tips we got from staff that really enhanced the experience.

Best tip we got: Turn on your flash for the kaleidoscope photo — it makes a huge difference!
